Mercedes-Benz All Electric: Charging Options

Charging doesn’t have to be complicated.

There are multiple charging options for you to charge your Mercedes-Benz: All Electric vehicle at home or on the go.
There are 3 levels that have different charging speeds that you can utilize.

Charging at Home

AC Level 1 (120 volts)

  • 2-4 miles of range per hour
  • 60-80 hours of charging required

Using a common, standard three-pronged 120V household outlet is the easiest and simplest way to charge your vehicle. This does not require any installation of additional equipment. However, due to its slow charging speeds and limited output—only 1.9 kwh—this level is not recommended for regular charging of your vehicle.

AC Level 2 (Recommended) – (240 volts)

  • Up to 30 miles of range per hour
  • 12-20 hours of charging required

Level 2 charging is nine time faster than level 1 and is available at home and at public charging stations. A Level 2 charger is not included with the standard purchase of a Mercedes-Benz: All Electric vehicle. Mercedes Benz recommends installing the Mercedes-Benz Home wallbox for fast and convenient charging at your own home.

Charging on the Go

DC Level 3 – DC Fast Charge (200 kW/480v)

Charging capability dependent on:

  • How many kW the charger can deliver
  • Car level of charge (slows above 80%)
  • Temperature (battery and ambient)
  • Vehicle max charging speed:
    • EQB: up to 100 kW
    • EQE: up to 170 kW
    • EQS: up to 200 kW

Level 3 DC fast charging is the fastest charging and is almost exclusive to public charging stations. The stations range widely as far as charging speeds with many stations running at around 50 kW, while the newest stations now are often rated for 150 kW-350 kW. Charging at this level can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in as little as 30 minutes at the max charging rate.

With Mercedes Benz’s partnership with the North American Charging System, Mercedes-Benz EV users now have access via an adapter to over 20,000 Tesla Supercharger ports nationwide.
